Teeth Veneers
Bremerton, WA

Woman smiling with beautiful dental veneers in Bremerton, WADental veneers are often clumped in cosmetic repair, but for the patients who need them, there are several restorative reasons for their placement. Using a thin shell of porcelain, we can make significant change in the look of a single or multiple teeth.

At Pacific Ave. Dental, our team, including Dr. Hablutzel, can improve your look, increasing your overall satisfaction with your smile, while possibly protecting the surface of a damaged tooth, with the simple placement of dental veneers.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells that are attached to the outer front surface of the teeth, with the aim of improving their appearance. Dentists can use veneers for a variety of reasons after doing a comprehensive evaluation.

Who Are Dental Veneers For?

Patients may inquire about dental veneers when one or more of their front teeth have a variety of undesirable effects.

Veneers are designed to cover only the front face of your teeth, making them an excellent alternative to crowns because we are able to remove less of the natural tooth structure for placement.

Veneers provide a much more conservative approach when altering the tooth’s shape, color or size. Patients seek veneers to cover teeth that are:
•  Fractured: Dental veneers can be placed over teeth that have been fractured, including cracks and chips. This will offer the teeth some protection and visually give them a perfect look.
•  Stained: From teeth that are severely stained from smoking, coffee, an over-fluorination known as fluorosis, or from a variety of medications, including tetracycline, that can cause staining.
•  Gaps: For patients who want to have gaps visually closed without the long process of orthodontia, gaps can be filled with the placement of veneers.
•  Mis-shappen: We can visually help teeth look longer, shorter, or even straighter with dental veneers.
•  Worn: Dental disorders such as bruxism can rapidly wear down teeth or cause breakage. We can repair those effects with dental veneers.

How Veneers Work?

Unlike dental crowns, veneers cover only the front facing surface of your teeth. Your veneers appointments generally consist of two office visits, varying on the necessary preparatory work.

At your first appointment, Dr. Hablutzel begins with reducing the natural tooth structure to allow space for placement of the veneer. The tooth is then etched to increase surface area and allow for better bonding. A mold is taken of the tooth for customized fabrication of your veneer shell. The veneer is made of porcelain or acrylic and customized for your bite.

Once we receive the veneer from the dental lab, you will be contacted for placement. Dr. Hablutzel will check the fit, make adjustments as needed and then bond the thin porcelain shell directly to the front of your teeth with a bonding cement.

Following placement, you will be able to care for your veneer as you do your other teeth. Your care regime will including daily brushing and flossing. You can resume eating your normal diet, your veneer is designed to withstand normal chewing motions, and just like your regular teeth, you would want to use caution and not chew ice, or other hard materials.

Generally, veneers will last for many years, and the technique has shown remarkable longevity when properly performed.

What Are Dental Veneers Made Of?

Dental veneers are typically made of composite resin materials or porcelain. In most cases, these materials are tooth-colored to ensure that they give a natural appearance and shape and look just like natural teeth.

They are permanently bonded to the teeth to fit strongly, enabling the tooth in its new state to work just like the natural teeth would.

Generally speaking, the porcelain materials are more stain resistant than the resin veneers and will likely also mimic the light-reflecting properties of the natural teeth.

Why Do People Get Veneers?

Dental veneers are cosmetic and can be used to treat a wide range of issues and cosmetic concerns, including teeth that are chipped, discolored, broken, or teeth that are smaller than average.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

Veneers are not permanent but can last several years. Veneers, like any other dental procedure, will last longer if they are well taken care of. The traditional porcelain veneers are designed to last as long as 10 years, with some research even suggesting there might be instances where they last for 20 years.

However, no-prep veneers have been known to last for about five to seven years.

Are Veneers Bad for Your Teeth?

Veneers are not bad for your teeth, in fact, they offer several benefits to the patient. The biggest benefit that they offer is the fact that they improve the appearance of the teeth.

They give a brighter and more even smile, especially when one is faced with the following cosmetic issues. These include broken or chipped teeth, severe discoloration of the teeth, or uneven coloring that cannot easily be fixed through whitening.

Other issues include teeth that are smaller than average, gaps in the teeth, and pointed and unusually shaped teeth.

Dental veneers look and feel like natural teeth. The entire process of having them fitted is easy and simple.

Unlike other procedures, cosmetic or otherwise, dental veneers require very little enamel removal. They only require the removal of a thin layer to enable the bonding and make sure the final outcome is not a tooth that looks awkward and out of place.

Additionally, dental veneers will only be fitted and bonded to the fronts of the teeth. Dental veneers will improve your appearance and confidence in your smile.
