Root Canal Bremerton, WA

What is a root canal?
A root canal is a procedure that is done to remove the root and the biological material within the tooth, so that it can continue to be viable. This kind of procedure becomes necessary when the tooth has experienced significant decay. When decay starts affecting the deep interior of the tooth, the tooth will die and eventually need to be removed unless the root is removed. The Root Canal Procedure
Root canal therapy is a simple and common procedure. The procedure starts by preparing the site with a numbing agent. Your comfort is our first priority during any procedure, so we take extensive measures to ensure that you have a pleasant experience. We will allow some time for the numbing agent to kick in, and test it before the begin. After preparation we will drill a small hole in the top of the tooth so that we can access the interior of the tooth, where the root is located. We will carefully remove the root, as well as the decay and any biological material within the tooth. We are extremely careful to remove all signs of decay from the tooth to ensure that re-infection does not occur. Once the it has been thoroughly cleaned we will rinse it out with a sterilizing agent and fill it in with and inert material called gutta percha. Gutta percha give the tooth the solid foundation it needs to continue performing processes like chewing properly.
Once the interior of the tooth is filled in with gutta percha we can finish the procedure by filling the entrance hole with composite dental filling material. This is the same material that we use to produce tooth colored fillings and dental bonds, it matches the color of your tooth exactly.
